How does a résumé differ when applying for an in-house litigation position than a lateral Big position? I typically include under my past employers what I did during those roles, such as pre-litigation negotiation, motion, drafting and trials. That all seems important for in-house roles, but there seems to be more of a focus on working in relevant industries. Any thoughts from our big law refugees?

Obviously many of us get paid very well and there is an expectation with work demands for being paid that high. But what’s too much? How do you set a limit to preserve your mental health? I find myself guilty for taking time to decompress but I know I come back to work refocused after I do it.

Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. I wish the worst part about it was the amount of work, rather than the completely toxic culture, lack of appreciation, arbitrary and back/breaking deadlines, lack of mentorship/feedback/training, and the fact that the associates act like they don’t even know each other.
