How does everyone juggle clients in different time zones? Or do you try to keep your clients all in the same area? I’m in the states and just got put on a European client and worried about communication with the time difference.

Agree with the above! I also found my European clients to be more understanding of delays, and overall they had a bit less manufactured urgency than their American counterparts. My French clients for instance would be off the entire month of August lol so the difference in work culture kind of helped me worry less about timezone differences etc. that said I would pad timelines slightly to ensure timely sign off on work due to the time difference, and keep an eye on their holiday calendar. It’s not something that was typically called out to us because it’s the norm there, but not all of our holidays overlap.

That's such a good reminder - to remember work culture is different over there and the holidays! Makes it tempting to want to only have European clients :) Thank you!

Hi!
I work with people from all over the world and what helps me the most is planning in advance as much as possible.
In that way I can organize my days/weeks better (when do I start my days, when do I finish my days, planning for any before/after work activities...) and keep a healthy work-life balance.
All the best!

Overall yes :)

Hi! I am seeking for an advise, anything helps! I applied to Accenture’s entry level analyst program. I applied a few days ago (I know it’s a bit late, but the application is still open thankfully). Yesterday, I joined a resume workshop w/ an Accenture recruiter. She went through my resume and said that I have a strong one! I’ve also set up a coffee chat w/ her next week. Unfortunately, I got an email today from the system, they decided not to move forward :( Should I reach out to her abt this?

I’m looking make a transition internally but fear the comp will not be competitive as if I was an external candidate. Any suggestions to negotiate?

Summer intern at BCG. I've been told by a few people that you need to spend your first few cases "earning your stripes" to gain staffing optionality or be servile/loyal to a pyramid to gain access to the cooler case work within that PA. It's seemed particularly emphasized at times.

Is this the standard at McK? I'm trying to guage the staffing optionality and openness of McKinsey culture to direct your random walk.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!

Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.
