First cycle for me and went from 75k to 90k

like

First cycle.... joined in May 2017 and promoted Oct 2018. Granted I should have never come in as an associate but I was excited for the position and prospects and knew I could do it in a year.

like

You should’ve came in as a senior associate.

I know fresh grad associates who got promoted to senior after working at KPMG as associates for a little less than 2 years.

Usual bump is 10-18%. During COVID it was 8%-12%. I might not be super accurate though :)

Love you

like

Oh fuck lol thanks!

If you’re performing at SA level and make it known you are gunning for the promotion within your first cycle you could get it assuming you join the firm before July-ish.

like

Definitely going for this! Thanks

I did it in 11 month. Went from 75k to 90k back in ‘15.

like

Yeah, the one thing I would be careful about is that I now know the upper range is higher. So if you come in at 80-85, then you may not get a 20% raise, it may be lower to level you out with other SA1...

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
