How has the Schulte funds transition to McDermott been so far? Heard from some people it’s cliquey/ certain unhinged partners in the group - is that true?

McDermott didn't really have a funds practice, so there wasn't much to transition.

McDermott is for sure cliquey with a few unhinged partners. Good people as well, but the bad apples create toxicity. Schulte also does mostly hedge funds so it’s unclear how the combined firm will position itself beyond that

"Unhinged" is underselling the level of crazy at this firm.

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

When you meet with a partner for a new assignment. Do you bill for that time? I’m a new associate, so I don’t know. On the one side it seems that meeting and conferring for an assignment requested by the the client would be billable since it’s using firm time and resources. On the other side, we are just talking about how to tackle the assignment and not tackling the assignment itself.

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up.
