How have people maximized their earnings when you’re already at the higher end? I’m 29 and killing it in a tech pre sales role. 180 base 50 OTE so 230k cash annually and 28k in stock annually.

I’m extremely grateful and fortunate. I want to start a family and earn more so I can retire early and set the family up well. I’m already putting money away but how can I earn more cash? I’m still a few years away from management and even then I think I’ll earn more in stock and not see a + much in cash

You’re in the top 5% bro. Just spend less money and be patient

If you want to retire early, why is making comp in stock a bad thing?

like

It’s definitely not! If anything it’s speeding that goal up. I’m just curious how people have pulled levers to get more cash in their income when they’re already getting paid at the higher end of their band. Do I go for promotion early? Do I switch jobs? (really don’t want to) 230 OTE is great but I’m trying to make more to allow my spouse to stay home. So I’m thinking about how do I turn that into 350k since they are at about 120k

What company are your working for ? And product/solution you are selling?

Mid size tech company selling search ai/ cyber security

You don’t build massive net worth just chasing bigger paychecks. Invest. And keep investing. Especially in assets like real estate.

Agreed and trying to invest consistently while looking at spouse taking a step back from work to raise kids which is why I’m heavily focused on cash at the moment just to get over this little hurdle and refocus on investments later with stock still coming in in the meantime

Ah same boat post moving to big tech as well

OP curious,,strongly thinking about moving to the overall account AE to potentially double all in comp to at least pay off my mortgage quickly within the next 1-2 years! Have you thought about that?

Also also realized so much we can do as a IC in terms of moving up

And I really love my team/culture now and couldn’t go back to consulting

Been told it’s time for me to take the plunge and go all in on AE and have folks internally supporting me to make the move

Best of luck of your journey!!

But definitely a great way to get a boat load of cash if you’re successful

I have an interview tomorrow with a recruiter who contacted me through LinkedIn. I believe I am way under-qualified for the position and I pointed that out to her, but she responded with several points from my resume as to why she believes the role is a good fit with my experience. It would be a leap, but maybe I need to take it as a challenge and not limit myself? I just don’t want to get in over my head and fall flat on my face. What are some questions I could ask during the first interview?

Primarily remote roles

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?
