Need a good status tracker for hear end. Help!
Title jumps in industry are less predictable and more difficult IMO. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a lateral move (unless it’s tech, which have title deflation).
Everyone is different but I recently left for a manager position as a M2 in April and would’ve been up for SM in July. I thought title wouldn’t bother me for the reasons you mentioned above but it’s slowly starting to bother me. If you know yourself and won’t desire that title or you know there is good promotion potential then I say go for it!
It would bother me tbh, but I think that PA managers often go for senior title when leaving for industry.
Industry levels will be different than public. Don't get too hung up on title vs. pay/role.
I applied for a manager position in private and I was told that they need someone with more years of experiences. I searched their employees on LinkedIn, most of their “seniors” came from big four and had way more years experience than me 😂 im wondering if I should apply for “tax senior” roles instead of manager lol
Currently looking to exit. Interviewing for tax manager position. If I am the first tax hire, can I negotiate the title to be director? Has anyone done this?
I honestly don’t care about title. For me as long as the money is right and the job description matches the title I’m fine. You can make me a staff account for all I care
They can call me the third floor janitor if they'll pay me enough money.
M1, 100% agree
Really?? I can leave as a PA associate and get a senior position now. So what’s the point in staying in PA then?
Ah ok. Most I see have been 80-90K
After making it to manager I have zero interest in going back to senior level tasks. Make sure you’re good with the job function you’ll perform
Note this - a senior in industry is the same thing as a staff in PA. Industry titles are degraded compared to PA. Also, keep in mind that manages in industry do all the dirty work that staff and seniors do in PA. This includes clearing the e-file diagnostics on tax returns. Eww! To me, I wouldn’t want to do this type of work at a manager level.
