How is everyone feeling about AI in the legal practice? Personally, I can’t wait for it to really get good and hoping it makes attorney life more manageable by giving us some hours back on tasks that AI can handle better and quicker. 20+ years in practice, I am not worried about AI coming for my job, but I could see there being less associate needs and less projects to train associates on if AI take hold. What do you think the practice of law will look like in 10 years with AI just ramping up

We are very tech forward and use several AI tool. Our firm is on the smaller side and we are desperately hoping to be on the “right side” of the AI waive. Unless you are a litigator I think it’s crazy not to be scared for your jobs. The practice of law is going to look totally different in 3 years. I would not want to be a junior or a law student right now.

I am currently working as a delivery manager for a data science project where I manage both ML and DE teams. I am not sure what career path should I follow.

Should I move into either a core technical data science/data engineering role or move into a techno-managerial role like a program or project manager? What role would be best in terms of money, growth, and job security?

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

I’m a fifth year associate who is ready to get out of litigation (and private practice altogether). I’ve only ever done professional malpractice (legal, med mal, etc) and feel like those skills will not transfer as well if I had done transactional work. Ideally I would like to transition to something in-house. Any suggestions as to what jobs/industries I could transfer into with only litigation experience?

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

If you left did you find securing a new job difficult due to only being there for so little time?
