I am currently requesting all requests be sent to me via email, I have a running to do list that I add those requests to that list. I reviewed that list using the MoSCoW method and anything that is “Urgent but Not Important” or below based on my leaders priorities I let the requester know I do not have the capacity to assist at this time however if I find myself with extra availability I will circle back to them. I also have in my signature “Please allow 24 hours to respond to your emails.” This allows me time to figure if I have time to help. Also, Fridays I have an out of office message basically stating that I will be heads down most of the day and will be checking my email twice a day once at 10am and again at 3pm and if there is anything urgent to ping me on teams.

This is the busiest time of year for me and I agree with you, it feels like I am kind of losing steam. I am really tired and exhausted all the time and I know its because I am burned out. I may need to take a couple days off to get some rest and relax a little.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?

I'm in salary negotiations for a great role, but there's a small gap (~$10k) to even match my old salary. They have most of the obvious benefits like unlim. vacation, low healthcare premiums, 401k matching, permanent WFH, etc.

Right now, severance pkg. and a more senior title are most important. Has anyone negotiated a title bump? Outcome?

Are there additional benefits I should also consider?
