No worries. Just network and find a project in a different team. Do you know any partners outside your team? Do you have an area of interest? Look up those Partners in the directory, and send them your bio. Explain the situation. I am interested in x, and my team was just dissolved, so I am looking to align with a new partner.
Thanks for your advice. Will use my unassigned time for this

Your former partner not taking you with him, or reassigning you, is a red flag. Is he helpful? Can he recommend you to other Partners? If there was a performance issue, start looking.
I have shown poor performance when I started working. It got significantly better but it's hard to change the first impression. Also, the team that the partner is moving is quite different from the former team. I do not think he will give me stellar reference. Thanks for your comment. Will def look for opportunities outside the firm as well
I had a coachee - exp hire consultant- not show up for project and firm initiative and had an unpaid 10k balance on his Amex before he finally was let go a year later.
upside scenario it is

You can also ask HR what teams are looking fir resources, but it’s better to use your own network to align yourself to an area of your interest. HR will likely just align you randomly.

If you are friends with some colleagues whom you like, ask them. Again, it’s better to find a good team yourself than wait for HR to randomly assign you.
