Our company has a 2-week policy for that. Not sure if it's standard practice but we mostly get to sell around 70% of our close out products.
That doesn't seem like a bad percentage. Would you say that's standard for most companies?
At our company it is six to eight weeks before sending to liquidation stores. I'm not sure how long the liquidation stores will keep them
First off, decisions like that are very dependent on your turns.
Clothing and other soft goods has anecdotally a shorter shelf life because of trends while furniture and hard goods (electronics, etc) can stay on shelf longer.
But it really comes down to a individual store/company and even part of the country/world.
