You’ll be a first class citizen at FAANG, not really at MBB.
Do not go to BCG. You would be a huge second class citizen at BCG.
You’ll get close in 2 years but work 150-200% as hard for it
Here, typical comp (not top performer comp) hits ~$250K in your third year out of B-school (Manager level)
If any helpful, you’ll be a 2nd class citizen at McK as well as a data Scientists. A lot of folks really enjoy the type of work they do, which is really different from what they could do at a tech company
Subject Expert
This is really changing. I joined 4 years ago and was floored by the subtle and not so subtle tiers. Nowadays, I’m seeing even the most old school integrative partners and senior partners much more directly embrace expert colleagues. Heck, I just saw two analytics colleagues I’ve worked with get elected.
Go to Faang. You'll have a happier life and career growth + stock appreciation which is not there at MBB.
Comp yes. Career growth No.
2 years(after first promotion) although you get very close in the second year if you are a top performer
Pay in Gamma is same or higher than generalist for same level but average promo timeline is slower.
Is your FAANG TC all cash or does it have stock with a vesting schedule?
MBB you’ll get healthy comp increases especially once you’re in years 3+ past MBA level - and it’s all cash. Plus the retirement contribution.
95% cash in first two years, shifting to 30% stock in latter two
