I worked as external payroll for 1 year then I became permanent employee of organization was working. When i was a fresher my salary was below tax slab so my external exployer did not generate any form 16 for me. When tried to switch my new organization wants me to submit form 16 as BGC process. Totally get questioning it, but honestly, if companies are reaching out, that’s a sign you are ready, or at least ready enough to grow into it. Sometimes we wait for a magical “ready” feeling that never comes. I say take the interview, ask questions, and see how it fits.
Joined EY to specialize in provisions so I can be a better candidate for private companies.
Yea I spent 3 years as a senior before getting promoted and I still also questioned if I was ready and was nervous about it given it’s such a pivotal promotion, but my PML told me to just trust and go for it and that I would learn as I go. There’s obviously still so much to learn from an administrative and economics standpoint but I’m so glad I listened and went for it, because as someone else in these comments mentioned, we tend to wait for the right moment which may never come so just go for it

Who told you that lol

You should go and try for it. If you wait to be a manager, you will be over qualified.
If your experience is purely in industry, you need another 4 YOE
You’re ready. I did it with the same YOE but I had heavy provision experience and was a licensed CPA. Those were the two big factors for me to get into my role.
20 years
Everybody is different so it’s not as simple as saying 5 or 7 years.
Look at your evaluations. Are you highly rated or middle of the pack? Are you doing Manager level work now? If yes, how’s that going? Do you have good staff management skills? Do staff look to you for guidance and advice?
Answer these questions honestly and it will lead you to the right choice.
Good luck!!
