Hi Google - I am requesting guidance!
I am prepping for my interview specifically GCA and open ended questions. I struggle to tell if the outcome should be talking through your process/steps (maybe for a question like - how would you go about determining program complexity) vs a specific solution such as create x new product, for x market by x date based on my assumptions. Is the desired outcome something I can clarify with the interviewer?
Imagine being an auditor lmao
Wet mouth noises...😖😖😖🗯🔥

Not at all. It’s a boondoggle reward for extroverts who have, to varying degrees, given up their lives for the company.

Sure, nothing matters. It’s just an industry award show for advertising people that awards the most progressive advertising of the year. It’s not an Oscar. Normal people don’t care about Lions nor should they have to care.
The times that everyone had to know an ad for the ad to be good are long gone, as the media landscape is very very cluttered. We used to all watch the same 5 tvc channels, now there’s so much media to consume we all have different consumption behaviors. So it’s pretty normal you haven’t seen the vaseline work in your daily life. Doesn’t mean it’s not a great idea that worked very well for the brand.
The standard “it’s only a great ad if everyone in the whole world knows it and loves it” is dated, and frankly, unfair.
However much you care about it is how much it matters.
I got nonstop job offers for about 18 months after I won 2 gold lions
If you are on a O1 visa in the USA, you need to win awards to keep it 🤷🏻♂️
To me? Zero percent. Your mileage may vary. But I stopped caring about awards 20 years ago.
Famous work is famous work. Is penny price packs famous yes. Won tons of awards. Is goldfish Chilean seabass famous yes. Won like no awards.
The creatives who did both those will get a raise to keep them around
It’s basically a facade for ad executives to justify partying in France for a week while, back home, thousands are getting no raises or laid off.
If you want an international career or to work at one of the top agencies in the world, then yes, it matters a lot. I was able to be considered an alien with extraordinary abilities by the US government and got my green card because I’ve won several Lions and other awards throughout my career.
If you were born in the US and don’t have bigger aspirations, it doesn’t really matter whether you win at Cannes or not. The value of those awards depends mostly on what you want to achieve after winning them.

It only matters to execs pretty much
It changed the path of my career, personally.

Only if you want a job at a good agency. Other than that, no it does not.
You’ll have a great career as a winner and great one without it. Depends on what you do
