The $450 gets reduced by the $300 travel credit. So one personal flight or combo of Ubers will knock the true out of pocket to $150 a year.
Personally I put all possible personable costs on my card, including: auto insurance, phone payment, food costs, etc. I find the CSR worth it though most costs for work go on my corporate card.
I do the platinum Amex but the firm picks up a portion of the fees. The only way I can figure it makes sense to go that route is if you fly Delta a lot. I do and it is worth it for me just for the lounge access.
Why Is the lounge access worth it to me? Free drinks and food. It’s not so much that they are free but that I can run in and grab them in less time than it takes to even order food in the concourse. Desks and comfy chairs with plenty of charging ports/plugs. Good WiFi. Clean bathrooms with two ply TP! People at a desk that you can actually get real help on flight changes.
There really isn’t much benefit outside of that for a corporate traveler.
Between the credits and the lounge access, the Amex pays for itself. Also I have a car but use Uber eats at least once a month. You also get pretty decent return for personal airfare rates.
P1..lounge access sounds good..I already have it through my status..so was contemplating if it's really worth it...that 300$ for travel sounds really nice ..just not sure if that 150$ justifies itself..either ways if I buy I am more inclined towards csr..than amex..as annual fees are less
I did neither, went with United Club card because I’m near EWR. Tailor towards the airport, airlines, and lounges you frequent and you’ll do fine.
Op you can also get chase freedom and capitalize on their 5% bonus categories and combine the points with csr.
