making 100k in LA is nothing to brag about.
Sorry to say.100k doesn’t go as far as it used to. You could probably swing $2500-2700 if you don’t have student loans and don’t care to save your money.
Humble brag
Your apartment has whistles? LUCKY!
Regardless of where you live, you shouldn’t spend more than 30% of your salary on rent. That comes out to ~$2,500 a month
@SDS but taxes. So shouldn’t it be more like $2000?
If you’re on the west side you’ll get bells or whistles. Never both for your budget
Making 100K in LA means you'll probably need a roommate if you want bells and/or whistles
Definitely not bragging. Just asking for advice which is part of the point of this app. Keep it moving then @Junior Copywriter
or a place to live in general. do people think LA is cheap??
LA is far from cheap. Moving there soon and paying more than NYC but getting more for it. Santa Monica Culver City are nice but hard to come by under 2k. Try mid city or Korea town and potentially West Hollywood. I’m told it can get sketchy at night but not sure. Stay away from areas below the 10 like Crenshaw
I lived in dtla in my own private studio loft for $2k. Ac, washer dryer, parking, and a big big studio space (basically one humongous room). It’s dtla which you either love or hate though. Also, managed to live there making way less than $100k/year 🤷🏽♂️
Save as much as you can.
