Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase?Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

It all depends on your company's culture. I don't think there's a hard and fast rule around how often one should get raises. Some companies only offer raises based on performance or with promotions and some do the annual or twice a year raise.

Just know if you don’t at least receive a 3% base salary increase every year…you should job hop.
We only get 1% no matter how much you exceed on your goals and metrics. I hate it.
5% each year is compounding and technically better than 15% every 3 years... that being said, I'd be fine with a 5% adjustment every year for 36 months and months 36-48 I'd diversify my time looking external for the onwards and upwards 20-30% bump with the next employer.
It’s always better to get continuous raises, since the faster you save or invest the leftovers, the more interest you get back from those over time.
Annual performance reviews (with the potential for a salary increase) seem the most common. I'm personally interested in every 6 months, especially given how dynamic my role is... But I accept that annual is the norm.
