Hi fishes
Looking referral for anaplan role.
Opening in Amsterdam ✨

I’m job hunting in Los Angeles, looking at a variety of titles (HRBP, Sr. HRBP, Manager, Sr. Manager, Director). I have 8 YOE and my SHRM-SCP. I reached my report limit on payscale.com, so I used a variety of other sites to price the roles (BLS, salary.com, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Robert Half). The problem I’m having is the huge inconsistencies between sources (there are $40k differences between some of the identified medians). (Continued…)

Anyone know about the culture at Braze?
When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

Not very accurate. I’m in a role that pays me $75K more than the listed salary on Glassdoor.

You shouldn’t say no to a higher salary obviously. However, more often than not, you’re likely being brought in at too junior of a title (and likely role) and could make you resentful in future.
Glassdoor is inaccurate when you can have multiple experience levels with the same title. Like at my firm title of “consultant” can be 2YOE or 10YOE and pay can rage +/- 80k
Did you adjust the experience level parameter in Glassdoor?Agree with C1 pay range varies widely for the same title, yoe filter might help
Not accurate at all. A few years ago I did a study for a tech company that was struggling with recruiting. Part of the analysis was looking at external reviews on sites like GD. Not only was salary info wildly off but we found that many of the posts and comments were factually incorrect. Some posts were clearly made by people who never even worked at the company (potentially by competitors).
In one meeting we showed the client how easy it was to post a fake review for any company. When we reached out to GD they essentially admitted that they knew much of the content was wrong but their business model wasn't about accuracy but about volume.
Man- y’all really are so helpful. I was worried 😦
They make way more than that. I had some pretty incompetent SOs making 140-160k
It’s definitely a Product Owner/Project Manager/Client Relationship Manager, where technical understanding is helpful - but strong leadership, organization and communication skills are more important.
Midwest, LCOL city btw.
Solution Owner isn't a title, that's why the data on glassdoor is so wrong.
