How should I be judged/critiqued?
I’ve been out of law school for nine years, but only in my area of law for two. However, year one was at a terrible firm with not so great experience. Before then I was in doc review for a long time. Now, I’m a ninth year attorney with only two years of relevant experience. From the outside, I’m more functional than a two-year attorney, but not as independent as lawyers out of law school as long as I have been. Sometimes, I feel like I am judged as a ninth year

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I am concerned with fulfilling billable hours requirement. I’m required to hit 2100 hours yearly and I’m at ~1,500 hours and I think I’ll hit 150-180hours this month. What will happen if I don’t hit my targeted amount by the end of my year.
