How sick do you have to be to miss work? Like, are people still calling off when they get Covid, or are we just bringing the virus to work with us?

If you are sick, please work from home or call off. The rest of us don't want your germs.

I have gone to/called HR on fellow coworkers who are coughing and hacking, running the the restroom and looking like death warmed over. They need to be at home and should never expose people to their ailments. We have had people in my former job that literally came to work with a 'little flu,' and wound up causing the office to be shut down and fumigated; it was C-19! Remember that you may be able to muscle through it, but what about your coworker than has Asthma, COPD or some Autoimmune Disease they can't muscle through it like you can, and could wind up debilitated long term or worse.

Please call in if you’re sick. Don’t spread your germs. Jesus. You’d think people wouldn’t have to be told that anymore.

There was a time when they would not let us WFH if we were sick. They said if you are too sick to come in, then you are too sick to WFH & made us use PTO. So dumb. The result was people coming in to the office sick. I always saved a few PTO days "just in case" but some didn't have the time and would end up getting pay docked. It took C19 shut down for them to figure it out. They don't give anyone a hard time about WFH now if they are sick.

My company now requires us to be in office 3 days per week with no sick days, just PTO. When possible I will work from home, but otherwise I’m forced to come in

I’ve missed one unscheduled day of work in my 16 year career for sickness and it was because my appendix burst.

Seems like very few people on my team take sick days.

When I need a break, I use Life Leave/Sick time for the day…Mental health days are “Sick” days as well. Corporations do not care about employees, and will work you to death. I use all 5 Life Leave days we’re allotted every year, throughout the year. I use it before using PTO because I’ll get paid out PTO if I ever decide to leave or am forced to leave State Farm. That work will be right there waiting when I get back…People se terrified to take time off, but it’s your allotted time off!!!
