Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I was you a few years ago, and you know? I regret not leaving sooner. For me, this is a sign to move forward. If a company can’t recognize your value despite your performance, it may be time to find a place that will. Sometimes the energy spent fighting a broken system is better used building something better elsewhere.
That’s really hard to wrap my head around. If you’re doing the work and performing well, why should living on the property cancel out a raise? I’d be asking the same questions. Have you found any clear policies about this, or is it all just verbal from management?
All verbal I don't see any policies about it anywhere and I live in Texas and I haven't consulted with an attorney yet but from what it appears to be to me, I'm thinking this looks like wage discrimination especially because I pay the rent it's not a free apartment I took a pay cut trade off contract and in my research that's what I came up with
I would definitely start looking for something else. Not giving you a raise shows that they really don't appreciate you. If they are ignoring you its because they aren't planning to pay you more. Time to start looking for something else ASAP.

You may want to just leave. Why stay? They will never have us in their favor.
Time to leave. It's not worth trying to wrap your head around this. A company that doesn't value any employee enough to ever give them a raise is not a company worth working for. Even worse is the fact that they're making excuses for it by claiming you're ineligible because you live on the property. You living there is a benefit to them.
Ask them if you can have that raise if you move off property to their closest competitor and watch when heads spin. If they say your job requires you to live on-site, you've got your answer. Why would you work there?
