Why would where you come from matter if you are in the school with everybody else start considering yourself equal to everybody else!
Go on LinkedIn and you’ll see enough people with your background are at MBBs. The question to reflect on is do you have the background that would be attractive to those firms irrespective of your nationality?
Agree - the nepotism I refer to mostly for landing an interview, more than landing a job. I have seen several people interview because their parent is a big client. But again, you have to pass the interview
It’s doable. However, what I found when interviewing is that while all the firms interview at Rotman and ivey, they only interview about 10-12 people each year. You don’t just need to make it into the school, you need standout grades and resume to get an interview. This is probably different from a Wharton or Harvard where if you want an interview you can probably get one.
Agree, for sure. Just trying to set expectations - it also means you need to work when you get there 🙂! Even if you’re smart it takes effort to end up with top grades!
It is doable, depending on the firm of course. Some companies will not interview you as they need you to work constantly in the US, so a Canadian passport helps for the TN visa. You will have a disadvantage vs domestic students. However, given the high representation of Indians in Canadian consulting, you can leverage that to land coffee chats and networking. However, also consider that about 40% of all MBA students in Canada are Indian, so networking can be tough with so many people with a similar background reaching out for conversations.
All things considered, it is doable, but you do have to stand out if you want an interview.
Many folks from India speak English since born or young so languages might not be an issue like folks from other countries. But there are still cultural differences to adapt to and required qualifications to grab
