can't necessarily speak to Protiviti specifically, but I made the switch to consulting and am glad for it. More challenging and more interesting overall for myself...a bit annoying having to motivate teams etc but that's ok!
My partner made the switch recently as well. He said a lot of the skillsets crossed over from the different industries. I think a con for him has been the greater responsibility over larger, more visionary tasks. He is more of the details kind of guy which was more evident in his previous role.
Consider that you’ll have chargeable/utilization hours requirements/goals to meet and those hours are up against budgets that can be tough to re-adjust. If you’re a manager, you’ll most likely be responsible for that budget on top of being accountable for the deliverables. I was in their IA group and that’s how it was in that part of the house. I remember tech consulting required specialized skills/expertise. Places like PRO are starving for talent because they are losing talent quickly so I’m pretty sure you’re a good catch for them with 10yrs of industry experience. Also keep in mind that you’ll be dealing with a variety of personalities, environments, workloads, etc. among a variety of clients; some will be a pleasure to deal with while others will be PITAs. Whereas in industry, it’s just one animal that needs taming.
Not sure about this one, but i have done some internet research and here is what peple have to say about Protiviti: "Good work life balance and growth opportunities" (Pros) "Clients are majorly Internal Audit" (Cons)
There’s a lot less internal audit work in TC than there used to be and in some TC practice areas there’s practically none. TC is the largest practice area now and the growth rates are really high. Look at the last earnings release to get some specifics.
