I am a bank middle office analyst and was asked by head of division whether or not I’m interested in internal mobility to front office side due to my good personal performance for the past two years.
Two questions,
1. I’m based in non-HQ location and have some interviews with HQ MD - what kind of questions do u think would be preferable in a final interview?
2. Was told that the base salary remains unchanged since i’m not experienced at that field - Is this a general practice? Or negotiable?

1st yr at a nyc v50 firm doing general transactional work. I know the lateral market for transactional lawyers is hot but not as hot for juniors. I just want a change of scenery because my current firm is bleeding good associates / not giving great training imo / and just seems small. Would lateralling this early feasible? Got laid off in tech corp dev making 250-300 all in. Have an offer to join a fairly new family office investment team in PE buyouts but will be a fairly significant cash pay cut vs what I was making in tech corp dev.
