I am a lawyer from Karachi, Pakistan who graduated with a UoL LLB (Hons) in August 2025 and has almost constantly been working in litigation since her final year due to a strong inclination towards the same. However, I have recently started work as a junior associate at a hardcore litigation chamber and it seems to be draining me mentally. Are there any litigation firms in Karachi that offer a better work-life balance and work environment than the typical toxic set-up?

Not sure about Karachi. This forum seems more on the US market

Looks that way, yes. The environment in litigation in Pakistan, especially in the province where I am in, is tremendously different from the rest of the world. Toxicity, less pay and slow growth are more common than you can imagine. Its common knowledge that the first five years are just for learning and shadowing seniors. Was hoping I could find someone on this platform who has insight into my relevant market.

So
- I didn't get selected in the H1B lottery.
- My company has agreed to send me to their London office for a year (haven't yet filed application).
- OPT ends in late June, so I can stay till mid-late August (grace period).

Question:
Should I just move to London as soon as I'm able to, or is it worth waiting until the end of my OPT in August in case they do a second round of the H1B lottery?

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Hello! I am a Technical Sourcer/Recruiter at a reputable FinTech company. I would like to transition into Project Coordination/Management within the tech space. Any tips for the transition? Recruiters: I am open to entry level & contract roles to gain experience! Thanks in advance for the assist!

Anyone who has/ heard of fbookers who successfully switched roles and gotten a promotion (L3 to L4)?

Context I am planning a switch from analyst to data scientist from a non US location to US. However, L4 is needed for this jump (prob due to visa issues). With the current revamp in PSC cycle, I am not sure if I can successfully get promoted by next year and make the jump. To do so, I heard there needs to be 2 EE (for this half and next half).

Resume question I've had three positions over my career one of which lasted 3 months and that I got fired from, the job search took an additional 2 months. Is it worth it to leave the 3 month stint off my resume? It might be easier to explain getting fired then a 5-month gap I was thinking

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house.
