Don’t do it. You will earn enough to be happy, especially if you make partner - IB/PE will drain the life out of you.
You'll be a more valuable resource to Deloitte because you have the PE experience. This further proves that OP can always go back and should take the risk.
Do it. IB is the move.
More money. More opportunities. That's all that matters.
OP never pigeonhole yourself. Take the risk and explore new opportunities. Once you have IB or even PE experience it's only going to help you.
It's never a bad thing. You will be opening doors for yourself that many dream of just having. FDD will always be a fallback opportunity for you. Take the risk.
Don't go look back at life and say, "What if". Just do it.
Thanks EY1. Exactly what I feel at the moment, the thought of future regret
Other option is to go the corp dev route. I left FDD to go to a hybrid corp dev/corp strat function and never looked back. Still got financial modeling experience plus some softer strategy skills, learned an industry at more of an in-depth level, and have solid WLB. Probably not as ideal as IB if you know you want to go to PE though.
