I am a product owner with 2 years experience and I’m looking for a role change. I’d like to stay in tech, but don’t really know what role to pivot to. Any suggestions?

Why do you want to make the role switch?

If you were looking to stay in the product owner role, we are hiring at Deloitte! Message me for more info if interested!

What are you looking for in a new role? And why do you think PO role does not fit you?

like

I agree with the above that it's an organizational issue. At my company I have the creative freedom to take the product in the direction I see fit. You will still get the occasional top down decisions but the right company should let you have your say. My company also has made it clear that we do not develop products just based on what big paying customers want.

I definitely recommend looking elsewhere for a PM role

like

Why don’t you stay in PO and climb the product ladder?

Might be an issue with your company tbh. At my company we’d consider a PO kind of like an APM and you could climb to PM. But it’s not standardized company to company

I started in big law M&A 8 months ago and I’m super miserable. I don’t love the work or the stress/anxiety that comes with deal work. I also feel like I’m not picking up on it as fast as my peers/able to juggle as many deals at once as the firm would like. I’m thinking about making a switch to in house work, preferably commercial contact work. Seems like the hours and stress would be more manageable in that type of role. Any advice or insight?

Hi All, just sharing what on mind to vent it out from my system. Maybe with this I could gain some insights and inspiration.
I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.
