Hoping to get in touch with #Peraton recruiter! I have about 9 months left in Air Force where I work in cyber defense and vulnerability management, have a BA in cybersecurity, sitting for CISSP and have lots of certs. Would love to chat with someone about opportunities. Hold a clearance and could technically start in 7 months. Any help is appreciated!! Thank you.

I don’t know but I am sorry you’re going through this.
Find a different job. Go to the private sector if you are working for the govt. I left there. Too much hassle to put up with. Life is short. Seek happiness elsewhere
Don’t waste your life in a thankless job with so many incompetent staff it’s pathetic.
I worked in Wisconsin state government during the Scott Walker years. I was specifically involved in things that I never would have chosen. I did the best I could to do my job but many times I felt utterly torn between wanting to do a good job and deep inside not wanting my bosses to succeed. It is a horrible place to be. i mire or less lived in that space for seven years. Leaving was not really an option for me because people with similar skillsets were all on the street looking for jobs. What you do from here involves evaluating the job market, your mental health, and other things that are important to you. My advice: if your job does not require you to engage with the insanity of what the administration is doing and saying then just focus on doing your job the best you can - do not make things your battle if they are not. Most likely, these people will be done in three years. But if you are directly engaged in the insanity day in and day out as part of your job then you have to decide if you can set boundaries that you can live with and be there to rebuild on the other side, or not. There may be no good choices. And I am truly sorry for that. Thank you for doing what you do.
"Do not make things your battle if they are not." Very wise words to live by!
I’m really sorry you’re going through all of this. No one deserves to have their integrity questioned, their role changed without consent, or to go unpaid that’s not just unfair, it’s damaging to your mental health and confidence. When a job starts breaking you down instead of building you up, it’s a sign that the environment is the problem, not you.
Right now, the best thing you can do is prioritize getting out of that toxic situation. Updating your résumé, reaching out for support, and applying to new roles can give you a sense of control again.
When I was going through a really difficult point in my own job search, I worked with a job search specialist who helped me get back on track and eventually land my new role at Grant Thornton. If you’d like someone supportive to help you figure out your next step, you can reach out to her at carolynchristiehiringteam.gmail.com.
I know how you feel. I work for them also but my department still is being funded. Sorry you're going through this. Things will get better!
As someone who worked as a GS civilian who has also been in a similar situation, for your sanity, I’d say leave the position. I had to do that to my last job, yes it sucked for a bit, but I was able to land a position that is flexible with what I need for my family. Thoughts and good vibes going your way homie ❤️
As a contractor working alongside you guys, and with more than half my business now laid off as we have hardly any projects to work on, I feel terrible for you and others similarly situated. I’m at an airport and getting through security, feel sick looking at all the hard working TSA agents and thinking at the ATC folks whom are getting screwed for nothing.
I have no sage or helpful advice but I’m thinking of you guys and hope this madness ends tomorrow, but thereafter, I suspect the animals in the animals in this Admin to do something similar come end of January (when prospective CR ends). At this point, may be best to begin looking into the private sector. Hope things get better for you and the other federal workers affected by this, both sides of the aisle are to blame here but from Johnson to Jeffries and Thune to Schumer, none of them care.
Things aren't much better in the private sector.
I had my position changed without my consent in the name of career development. It was incredibly hard and felt it was because when choosing from my office on who to fill the role, I was the one who fit in the least and they didn't want to break the culture.
My advice to you is to try really hard to overcome the victim mindset and try your hardest to grow. It sounds cliche and uncaring but having recently had to overcome this this past year, those mindsets were my turning point. You having to find that drive from within because of the company is unfair but it is how I kept from spiraling. Additionally, trying to find a position you would like to fill instead and maybe working on management for a transfer could be incredibly respected. I wish you the best.
This is a very common practice at ADCHS. If you are still employeed there, I would suggest consulting with a labor attorney.
I know that experience been an employee there almost coming up to 20 years and have had managers openly discriminating against me. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had management trying to fire me but never able to get justified reasons or proof but it certainly hasn’t been from a lack of them trying. When I first joined the company I thought it was a great stable job now after nearly 20 years I would not even suggest it for anybody unless you just needed to get a start on work experience while you look for something better. The environment is so toxic they say there inclusive and pro active but the truth is their rule books are all they care about if you get injured at work it’s like your stealing from them. I’m always watching my back and wondering who is coming with the next knife or when management will screw up my pay again that seams to be an yearly event too looking forward to getting out in the next year or two if I’m able to.
Can you request a transfer to another position?
Having been through several different offices it never gets any better it just different but same toxic managemen.
I had the exact same thing happen to me at the city level. When the director of Parks and Rec left the Rec super did everything she could to make my life hell, taking my position, my office, and I was constantly being called into meetings with HR for stupid complaints. One was writing on the break room whiteboard without her permission. I was writing inspirational quotes for staff. She was jealous of me for how fast I advanced through the ranks and was going to stop at nothing to put me down where she felt I belonged and make herself feel superior. spoke to HR and the mayor's assistant and nothing was done. I quit! Absolutely no job is worth jeopardizing your mental, emotional, or physical health, Ask yourself if this person is being allowed to behave this way, is that really the type of place you want to be?.
It hurts my heart to hear of good people being treated poorly. I hope you come to the best decision for you. Good luck.
All you can do is suck it up, unless you're getting paid badly.
