Congrats on the offer! Brand isn’t worth a 40% drop IMO. Definitely negotiate: start with base and move to sign-on bonus if needed. Good luck

Why did you interview at the pre mba level in the first place?

like

I interviewed for consultant level, but was offered SAC

like

If you interviewed for consultant but were offered SAC then no I wouldn’t try to negotiate up. I’d take it, and perform. Maybe ask for a bigger signing.

like

If you plan to stay 1-3 years, not worth it. If you plan to stay over 3, then worth it. (The demarcation line may be 2.5)

^this is probably the best advice

100% must negotiate to at least consultant level

like

If you perform well, it's possible to get the SAC -> C promo in six months

From a compensation perspective, the payback would likely not materialize. This decision must be made as an investment in your personal happiness if you think Bain will provide you more than what have here in terms of day to day work, exit opportunities, culture, etc.

Consultant level or burst

Due to some room mate shifting I am going to shift from paying 900 a month to about 1300. Only other option was getting a single for 1400, I live in a low cost of living city so didn’t think getting a studio would be worth it consider I work from home. Total compensation will be just other 90k this year. Any tips for making sure I stay on the FIRE PATH? Concerned that I’m now forking over an extra 5k after tax in rent and realizing that losing potential room mates has huge financial implication

I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
