I am planning to apply to various HFs (Two Sigma, Citadel, etc). Is it better to apply directly through their site or are there benefits of going through a recruiter?

I work at a similar firm and I went via a recruiter. From what I understand, most roles are sourced via recruiters who directly line you up to a PM/team. Had a low offer hit rate via direct application, very high via headhunters.

+1 on recruiters. You can also try the networking route. Find a friend of a friend, ask some Q’s, get an idea if there is a fit, etc. These places all have referral bonuses for employees.

You better have a stellar CV (1 in a 1000) to gain traction by directly applying through their website.

Hi ladies. I need some advice. I'm currently out on maternity leave, to return in about a month. I was just informed my male counterpart in my department will be getting a promotion by our new boss. What would you do in my situation? Demand to know why I wasn't considered? Leave?

Does anyone have financial anxiety ? I realize I have a toxic relationship with money, maybe because I just started my career (I’m 26yo). But when it comes to spending, I get anxious. I did everything right: saved enough for emergency fund, 401k, Roth IRA and investment stocks. However, I’m always afraid to spend a lot for certain circumstances (ie. Health, moving/new apt, etc..) and be left with less money since I work so hard for it. How do you overcome this stress and anxiety ?

This will either make me feel sad or okay.... at 25, how much did you have saved? Not including 401k.

Those in HCOL areas. If a year or two out from buying, are you prioritizing home down payment savings over retirement? Currently max 401k, debating on max IRA or put towards down payment

My son is entering Kindergarten and his (great but hamstrung) public school can only offer 60-85 minutes per day for remote learning, 3 days per MONTH in-school. From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.

Trying to decide between two portfolio ops roles, both in the Bay Area: Small-ish VC firm, ~135k base + 35k bonus Medium PE firm, ~115k base + 115k bonus Which would you choose? I’m leaning towards the PE firm bc it’s more hands-on, faster learning curve, and higher TC, but the VC role seems to have a better WLB and generally sounds cooler (getting exposed to VC vs continuing in the corporate world). What do you think?
