Sounds like a tough situation and I know your world is suddenly upside down. Have been there myself years ago, and while it sounds cliche I can honestly look back and say that it turned out to be ultimately for the best. It didn’t feel that way at the time, but it opened up opportunities that I likely wouldn’t have explored otherwise and I ended up much better for it. At this point it is what it is; try to only look forward. Onward and upward. The nervousness and uncertainty will give way to more positive and exciting things. All the best to you.
Ok ... well, everybody has an opinion ... and u are entitled to that opinion. I wish I could tell you exactly why ... god knows I tried to get them to tell me ... I almost begged them to. Verbatim I said ... “please can u tell me what I did so that I don’t do it again in my next position...” HR said ... “look we don’t have to give u a reason or examples...we have made up our mind to dissolve this relationship. U can either resign or we will be forced to terminate your position and that will not look good on your U-4.” I have legal experience (10yrs with attorneys in my last life) so I should have been more verbal but my mind was BLOWN and I couldn’t think ... hindsight is always 20/20. My production was great, I had learned the system (smart station in less 4 months), I am VERY ACTIVE IN downtown Rogers (was lead person on a mini event for go downtown Rogers-also have references from board members that helped me along with small business owners in DT that are sponsors and participating in the event. I also am working with several small business owners (20 ladies in the community-entrepreneurs) on a women’s seminar that we are hosting in Nov. please before u judge or make comments about “skepticism” gather all the facts and then determine whether I “deserved” the forced resignation. Let’s JUST SAY, many of the folks downtown that I have worked with, on the mini-event, were FLOORED and QUITE FRANKLY EXTREMELY disappointed in their decision. I have been in the industry series 7 licensed for 9 yrs, managed a book of 50k, have NEVER had a complaint from my clients or prospects. I value my integrity in my professional life and would NEVER DO ANYTHING to spoil that reputation. With that being said ... “thank you for all your responses...”
Here in lies the problem. You need to request your U5 from your old firm. That will tell you the reason. Without that, it will be tough to give you any input.
If you were forced to resign and it says “resigned” on your U5, you should have no problem.
I do have to ask, how could they force you to resign and you not have any reason. Usually when someone is forced to resign, they are given an ultimatum, “you either resign or we fire you for XYZ.”
Look at Bok Advisors position there in Rogers I was with them for several years and it would be a smooth transition potentially.
Thank you financial Advisor ... the encouragement is welcomed. Yes, this shook me to the core, no doubt. Especially because most people believe the worst (FA’s, including myself, are realist and skeptics ...) I pride myself on industry ethics, clients happiness, and my production for my employers/BD’s. As u said, “it is what it is ...” my determination, fortitude, and people like you encouraging me, I will come out on top. I’m looking forward, staying positive, and doing everything in my power to stay positive. Thank you again!
If u have anything ... call 4796445281 ... Amanda
Where are you located?
Rogers AR
Forced to resign for what reason?
Call me and I will tell u ... 4796445281 ... it would be hard to convey on fishbowl
In a nut shell ... they wouldn’t give me a reason (which I was told that they had too-honestly, I was in shock so I was caught off guard and dumbfounded) had just passed a compliance review with flying colors, the last 4 weeks I brought in 32k gross commissions, heavily involved with the local community etc etc ... so, I don’t have a definitive answer for u) ... i have several theories none of which would have anything to do with my character or work ethic
And the skeptic in each of us says that’s not the whole story...
That is exactly what they did ... said either resign or we will be forced to fire u. The only example that was given ... on the mini event, that I was directing along with a lady that was on the board of “go downtown Rogers” (I couldn’t be on the board due to bylaws, had to run a mini event and be a part of godowntown rogers for 1 yr) ...I sent an email to my task force (sponsors of the event and a few small business participating in the event that had an attachment for the “press release” in the BODY OF THE EMAIL I WROTE ... “please DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THIS PRESS RELEASE DUE TO FINRA RULES and I have to get compliance approval ...” highlighted and in all caps. I copied my regional leader along with our marketing department as well. When I explained that it was not advertising and that I wanted to make sure the sponsors and small business liked the way it “read” ... that’s when HR said ... “look, we don’t have to give u a reason and examples ... we have made our decision and we are comfortable with it ...”
Oh ... 1 more thing ... the lady on the board went back in her emails and found that we had been emailing each other on the mini event starting in Jan ... it was a poor example that was given ... and HR obviously felt that anything further that she shared with me could possibly be incriminating to the firm. I KNOW WITH all my will I can muster that it was a decision based on personal matters; not professional. I almost wrote a letter to HR requesting my personal file (patriot act) but a mentor that is a friend and trusted advisor recommended that I would move forward and let it go due to the size of the company and political affiliations in the community. I wish I knew ... I loved it there ... and I was immersing myself in the community (I still am), and I believe in my heart it would have been a incredible relationship
Wells Fargo ... I applied for that position online...is there anyone u would recommend me to talk to? Online is impersonal ...
