I am super introverted and I hate networking. It is very uncomfortable for me to put myself out there and ask for help. It feels like I am begging. But I’ve been trying b/c I really want a new job. This senior leader that my company works with (we’ve met twice) ADDED ME on LinkedIn. When I saw they had a career that I can only dream off, I got the courage to reach out to them just to chat and get advice. YAHH, they left me on Read and now I am embarrassed. Did I make a mistake? How are you all feeling about going into the holiday season while being remote? Missing the company holiday parties, or happy to be able to do your own thing?

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title.
