Don’t take it, firms are bleeding rn. Apply else where for full time. Or tell them you got a similar offer for perm hire. Usually the temp hires don’t have complete benefits

I would not expect an esteemed and reputable firm such as BDO to pull a bait and switch maneuver like this

Those who know, work for BDO
A blessing in disguise
Well those who know know.
I’ve been with BDO for 6 years and actively been a part of hiring for most of that. I have never seen a temporary offer outside of internships or extensions of internships. I would reach out to a partner that interviewed you and confirm the recruiter has the facts right.
BDO had one several years ago for an experienced hire.
Not a norm, seems weird that they didn’t tell you upfront. Unless you are desperately looking to get into PA and this is the only thing you have after exploring all other possibilities, I would pass.
Don’t take it. They swindled you
My guess would be to give you a lower salary and maybe less benefits than permanent employees. And, I’d assume they’d drop you whenever you aren’t needed.
This just feels like it’s only in the best interest of the firm, which while that’s the norm in public, firms are bleeding employees and you might as well apply elsewhere and get a permanent offer of employment. Or, if you liked the office you applied to, tell their HR you won’t accept the offer unless it’s changed to permanent.
This reminds me back when I was in college and went through the interviewing process with TXU Energy and at the end they said it was a full time position stating in the summer. I was just a junior at the time so it I couldn’t even except.
Perhaps it’s an error. Reach out to the recruiter.
Then I’d decline. a lot of firms are looking for people.
They did this before. It is usually they need a temporary body or want to try before convert to full time. What office is this?
Come to EY we are definitely hiring
