Focus on things that add value but don’t cost much - laminate flooring, remodeled kitchen, repainting.
Will you DIY renovate it yourself or hire someone?
I’ll probably have to hire someone for the majority of it, say 90%. Not very handy myself. I can paint and change lights and stuff but flooring, cabinetry, bathroom vanities, etc is too much
Kitchen and Bathrooms
If you’re going to rent it out, remodel to an acceptable standard but don’t spend a ton of money on finishes and fixtures that you love because no one will treat them like their own. I’d focus on flooring (go with something tough like porcelain tile or laminate), Cabinets(you can paint or wrap your cabinets for a reasonable price), wallpaper or paint, and potentially furniture (IKEA or something good looking to add style to the place) then rent it furnished.
Depends on market. And with inflationary pressures, I’m erring on the side of less expensive updates. I agree with what M1 said. This is directional That’s guidance to apply on top of that. E.g., Get the cheaper laminate flooring. Get countertops that last rather than the highest end, etc.
