I don't know if I'm too old to compete in a new career. I'm 47 and have an AAS in Interior Design. I've spent a good bit of my work experience in visual merch. (brick and mortar). For the last 5 yrs I've been working for a service-based company doing small-scale email marketing in Hubspot & Constant Contact. I'd like to pursue a career in digital merchandising/ecom. Guessing I'd need a BA in Mkting or similar, to be completed nights with 2 young kids home. Am I just dreaming?

I’m about the same age, have an AAS degree from 20 years ago. I interview and regularly get offers over 200k. Staying up on high demand skills is how I do it. In your case you could become an expert on SalesForce/CRM. Leveraging AI in the sales process. I’m seeing a push for lead generation, follow up using AI to book appointments. Much higher value than a BA in anything.

Almost 12,000 remote jobs with SalesForce in the job description on LinkedIn. One certification per month is a good pace. Start small build it up over time.

Excellent advice from someone who cares. To Social media marketing expert: It’s never too late to start from where you are.

There were substantial layoffs at firm and management has denied, saying they were performance related (mostly bullshit). They have not ruled out [further] layoffs in the future.

I don’t want to lose my job, and it would absolutely suck. But I almost feel numb and hard to even get too worked up over the prospect given how emotionally exhausting this year has been. Maybe bcz I feel somewhat safe, but I feel like if it happens, it does, and I’ll find a way to recover/move on.

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

Been in Sales for 12years, done it all from transactional to complex, from 10k to 650M and from local to global, and 2 weeks to 24 months Sales Cycles - now aiming to move into a management role within the next two years, ideally mid sized business, build and execute a strategy for growth, shape a vision and drive the overall success on a more strategic level. I'm trying to figure out how to pivot out of my current job. My department is in utter chaos, which has just become completely unmanageable. I'm looking for front-end web design work, and work from home. I am a strong designer and basically set up landing pages for large companies on a proprietary CMS in our company. If anyone knows of places I could apply? I'm not trying to reinvent myself as I do artwork on the side and would rather grow that business and get out of the chaos of fortune 500.

Hi! I’ve been in hospitality & management for over 10 years and desperate for a career pivot. As anyone in restaurants knows, the work is ~80 hours a week and often making less on salary than your own tipped-wage employees. I have experience with training, team building, HR, financial analytics, client needs, communications and so much more. Does anyone have recommendations on a new career path or job listings to investigate??

I've been a solo for nearly 20 years and built a small firm from the ground up. Now my practice (5 lawyers plus support staff, total 13 people) is being eyed by a midsize firm. They want me to keep building what I've been doing, except with their resources behind me. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, but I'm torn over giving up what I built.

Has anyone gone from solo (and a mildly successful solo doing super meaningful work) to a larger firm? I see a lot of posts going the other way.

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Does anybody else get frustrated when recruiters care about those who were effected by layoffs more than other job seekers? Like yea I am sorry about their layoffs but I have been seeking a job before their them, I feel like it’s unfair. When someone losses a job they become a job seeker like the rest of us.
