I enjoyed the work I was doing in big law but went in house for better WLB. My current role is very process-oriented and there is little room for growth or creative solutions (everything is pretty much scripted). Even though it’s “easier,” I’ve had a really tough time adjusting and I feel incompetent. I’m looking for new opportunities but am worried this has really destroyed my confidence. How do people focus in the office? I'm a first year and I've been mostly wfh since I started and I'm super productive at home - my setup is comfortable, I rarely get interrupted, and I feel like I can stay really focused in my home office.

Our SAs started today, so the firm is making us come in more often. My office set up is so awkward, screens are too small, and I'm constantly getting interrupted. Not to mention the extra time it took to get ready and commute. How do people do this?

I (Spring Boot + Angular, FS, 6 YOE) interview candidates at the product company I work for.

People just show up with no prep. I interview for 4-6 YOE and these people aren't even expecting to write a single line of code. Even questions like "find the lesser of the two angles between the two hands of a clock, given the time" or simple geometry problems that don't need DSA knowledge is too hard to attempt.

They claim they know Angular/React/Spring without knowing basic Javascript/Java. 😒
