My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

They should let whoever wants to go back in back in, and whoever doesn't to work from home. Not all of us have your strange need to be near people you work with.
What’s with the attitude?
We’ve soft reopened and I go in 2 days a week. Being home alone [single, no roommates] was slowly sucking the life out of me. I’m more productive in the office and meetings are better in person. There are lots of us and it’s fun being back in the office.
I’m home the other 3 days - cook dinner, grocery delivery, etc - it’s the perfect balance.
That sounds like a great set up!

You are not the only one. There are a lot of us.

They took volunteers to go back into my office and now they are expediting return to office bc ppl want to come back and accept the risks faster than the company wanted to increase capacity
I’ve struggle hard and also live alone. I’ve been going into the office 2X a week and that helps a lot - but others do feel this way.
I deal with this a lot. Unfortunately my office isn’t opening until at least Labor Day and it’s hard to get by working from home how we have for so long when everything is opened up.
I feel the same way! My office isn’t going back until next year and I wish we were going back sooner, like September (with more flexibility for sure)
Yes definitely would still like to keep flexibility/option to wfh maybe 2 days a week!
I feel the exact same way (also live alone and also been struggling a lot working from home). I went to the office twice last week and it made my whole week so much better- would recommend if you have the option! I'm also considering starting to go to coffee shops to work now that things are opening up. Another thing I realized helps me personally is having plans during the day- an errand to run at lunch or plans with friends after work. Gives me something to look forward to, a reason to get through my work quickly, and then I don't feel cooped up in my apartment all day.
I guess Im used to it now, and there are some things—like saying Im “running errands” during some days—I’ll miss, but Im still looking forward to being back and seeing people and working with people in person.
Overall Im with you, I just think I might be one of those people who asks to do a couple of days a week from home
I also feel this way. Although I'm not looking forward to the commute, I would like to have the option of going into the office at least a couple days a week. I know that most of my colleagues don't feel this way but I'm one of the only ones that is single and lives alone. I'm to the point where my mental and emotional health are being affected by a wfh structure

I want to be back at least 3 days per week....sometimes more! I really miss my teammates and the fun in the office.
Have you considered going to a public workspace? The membership fees are pretty affordable and it seems like this would solve your problem
Which one do you use? They seemed rather expensive last time I checked.
I go in two days a week but it seems that most want to stay home. I wonder if offices are a thing of the past like VCRs.
