It’s both. I need the consulting and all the fun work or it’s boring and I’m a low performer instead of a high one but then I’ll harm my health or mental health and it’s so hard to get out of it. But I’ll do the same bad cycle if the work isn’t stimulating or enough. I know no medium route in life.
Glad I’m not the only one 😂 because I do feel a bit crazy sometimes but I also completely see how the fact I love the work so much gives me an “unfair” advantage over everyone else. Clients tend to love me probably because I exude that the problem I’m helping with is the most fascinating important thing ever 😂. A few have disliked me because I’m sure my enthusiasm intensity isn’t for everyone but when the top levels of the client start telling PPMDs they just love me (yep and they have literally said love me) then I get that much needed dopamine and snippets to save to remember when rejection sensitivity dysphoria hits me like a wall
Working in the consulting industry can provide new challenges but may also lead to burnout, especially for individuals with ADHD. It's important to prioritize self-care, establish boundaries, and seek support to manage exhaustion effectively.
