I feel that even going back to school and finishing my B.A within my dual major would help me land a job in the communications, journalism field. So far, it has not and I feel like I am missing a great deal of what is being required for any of the jobs in this industry that I am interested in. The pay for most jobs is so low these days. How can a creative person with work experience, gain access to a decent paying job?

What type of position are you looking for? Are you already back in school or are you saying that you’re looking or thinking about going back?

The job market is really rough right now. It really comes down to finding the right role at the right time, or knowing someone who can help you get your foot in the door. I highly suggest networking and trying to get referrals.

Jobs in journalism have always been hard to find, and in today's atmosphere it must be really bad. A lot of newspapers have shut down or been downsized, and there probably aren't a great many roles for people starting out. You might be better off aiming for something like public relations or corporate communications. It may not be satisfying, but it's better than being unemployed.

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I have been in my current job for 1 year now as a booking coordinator for a logistics company. Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?
