Once I got the Welcome notification from my next firm I was ready to submit my two weeks. I submitted it exactly 2 weeks before my desired end date (and took some time off between the two). I think you’re locked and loaded so depending if you can afford to take some time off in between or not, I’d wait until you’re last two weeks to submit it. They could always turn around and terminate you earlier if you submit your resignation earlier so keep that in mind when planning finances.
Honestly I think this double standard where we are expected to give at least two weeks to stay in good graces but companies treat you at will and can remove you with no notice is BS.
I think the more time you give them, the more goodwill you garner. Hiring people takes time and wrapping up projects and tasks does too. The more advanced notice you give them, the easier their life will be during this transition and the better they'll remember you.
You should just schedule it around your own preferences. As long as you're professional and give two weeks notice you needn't worry about burning bridges. Decide when you want your last day to be and give notice two weeks before. It's possible you'll be put on a "gardening leave," and you'll be told to leave right away but still get paid for the two notice weeks.
I’d stick with the traditional two weeks. As long as you’ve cleared everything and have the new start date confirmed, your current employer will appreciate that you gave them proper notice.
