I got internally referred to apply for roles at Google. One of the roles led to a recruiter contacting me from a xwf.google.com email address saying they’re putting my application forward in the process. I was later invited to complete an assessment test, which I passed. I’ve tried reaching out and been waiting for next steps (but haven’t heard anything). Finally getting around to getting a CS degree. Taking a class taught in Haskell and a class taught in JS. In other words, a purely functional language which you can basically read just by looking at type signatures, vs... just no.

People who are happy that the office is dead should reconsider. If the office is dead wouldn't that mean more outsourcing and less TC forward? Isn't it short sighted to think jobs will stay in the US if they are remote considering how expensive it is to hire here?

Serious question… if I am interested in becoming a CTO/CDO one day, what should I do for the next 5-8 years to prepare for this? Are there specific roles in tech that prepares you for a CTO role? I am currently in sales engineering with over a decade in consulting experience.

I’m at a small company that’s sort of becoming medium sized, and a new exec pushing to quickly implement NetSuite and I just want to make sure we’re not getting in over our heads, he’s trying to get this done within two months
