CDs and above: salary and city?
McKinsey & Company I received an offer from McKinsey & Company in 2021 and I’ll be starting later this year after graduation. Obviously because of the pandemic, inflation is slowly trending upwards. Has anyone asked for a base salary increase before even starting the job? Any advice on how to approach this?

If I hated where I worked that much, it wouldn’t take a pay bump to leave. But if I was that miserable, it would be effecting other aspects of my life, including my mental health. I would consider a pay cut if a new job made me measurably happier.
If you hate it so much, go get the best offer you can and leave. It’s not worth staying if you’re miserable. But don’t assume the grass is always greener on the other side.
Thank you MD2
We know so little about your situation and that is such a personal question. How in the world can we answer that for you?
Successfully switching jobs at high levels (like yours) eventually boils down to tissue rejection- if you are accepted by your peers and staff at the new organization, it will work out great.
Other things may or may not work out, but without being accepted whole heartedly, it’s hard to find your rhythm.

I just took a pay cut to join a better firm w/ rational leadership. I will be down the next 12 or so months but see a lot more medium to long term comp potential here than at my old shop. Also, I don't dread going to work anymore.
Pretty sure you are in the "exceedingly well comped" category so go where you will be happy.

It depends. In which firm are you now?
