Probably mix of culture & work/life balance.
Lot of public accounting is relationships. Yes 100% remote across the country is intriguing but there’s benefits to flexibility & being close to people / clients you work on.
Also jumping around for pay increases sounds great till you get stuck at on the firms worst clients that they couldn’t staff with home grown talent.
Glad pay is increasing and there’s more flexibility across ton of firms. Doesn’t mean everyone is going to jump around constantly.

True, I focus on what IS and also try to focus on the upsides then the downsides. I’m significantly happier and I make more money.

I work in the Bay Area (VHCOL) and first year tax seniors in GCR and core ITS (Non TT, TP, etc) barely crack 90K lol

I work in the EY office so it’s true lol. The range of people I know is 88-93K. You said A2 so I’ll assuming you’re not at EY because we call them staff, not associates
Pretty sure only deals advisory seniors and above are making 6 figures
Not anymore.
As you can see by the responses here, they're literally not aware yet, HH. Even the recruiters I worked with were shocked by anything over 90k. The recruiters in my MCOL area were very rude when I said I was looking for 90-100k (because I was actually up-to-date on what was happening in the market) and said there was no chance, that at 2 years, I'm looking at 75-80k, 85k if I'm lucky and the interview goes magnificently. My current firm wouldn't go up to 70k (or even negotiate to anything above what I already had). Well. You know what happened next :P.
