You don’t really need any skills to be an internal corporate recruiter. If you’re trying to be a third party recruiter (think staffing/placement) then sales is the right background. Why in the world would you want to leave being an AE to be a recruiter?

First tip: don’t. Recruiting is the highest roll for turnover even greater than SDR/BDRs. I would stick to being a BDR/SDR & go for management position. Managers make insane money & do not have a personal quota, mostly they just manage & help the team accelerate.
