@senior consultant 1 it’s not a matter of not doing anything. I do a lot actually. I try and go to the gym almost every day but even when I slack, it’s still 3x a week. I just like to track these things and it’s more motivating in my opinion when you get reminders to stand up throughout the day or to get excited/determined to hit a step goal.
Used my Apple Watch for like 6 months with the main purpose of tracking steps/HR while working out but got so tired of the constant notifications/flashing when I turned my wrist and the need to charge it every night while traveling. It’s been sitting in a drawer for like 2 years now.
Personal training sessions/scheduled classes > technology. Force yourself to go instead of constantly being reminded of how much you're not doing during busy season by a watch
I have both - I just got the Apple Watch a month ago after being a loyal Fitbit-we for 6 years. I like the Fitbit better I think for health and fitness tracking - I like the simplify of it just tracking my steps, stairs, sleep, etc. I don’t like the tracking or the dashboard on the Apple Watch as much, but the apples watch does so much more than the Fitbit, which I think is the point.
@Deloitte 1 did you transition to the Fitbit or nah?
On the Apple Watch I’ve been able to stretch my battery for about three days by putting it on theater mode. As for the comparison I had a Fitbit but found it had too many technical issues that rendered it obsolete after a year or so. My partner had the same one but the band was wearing off and became unwearable around the same time period. I personally like the Apple Watch better, has more random functionalities, but I agree the fitness tracking on it isn’t the best. I had an issue with the Nike run app shutting off while in use and cutting my run short without me realizing until the end (apparently this is a widespread issue but I’ve learned to work around it by starting the run on my phone instead of the watch). Hope this helps!
@senior associate 1 thank you! Your response was very helpful. I haven’t heard of the theater mode so I’ll look into that more and see if it will end up being the choice for me!
I know it’s not PA related, but I need more motivation and health&fitness tracking while I die this busy season haha
@EY 1 I don’t use either, but I agree based on research and going to the stores to see them in person. I do think the dashboard on the Apple is cleaner though. But I hate that the Apple Watch is good for one day... the battery sucks! I like to track sleep so Fitbit wins there. But I’m torn because I love how much you can do with the Apple Watch... so what do you specifically use the Apple Watch for then? Just to receive notifications, utilize other apps with it? Part of me wants to get both, but I’m trying to be smarter with my purchases so I want to get my money’s worth with one of them for now anyways
