This is very strange. Don’t do that.
if i was on a shoot i would almost never just bring a friend for fun. even if it was a chill production it looks strange to clients and just feels like not the right time
if you wanna network with their team, just go out to dinner/drinks with them afterwards or something maybe (and even then thats usually just something i do as a team on production imo)
I’ve been on a lot of shoots in my career and never once have I had a personal visitor on set. I would view that as a bit unprofessional to be completely honest with you. Is your friend also a junior? Optically it’s not a great look for either of you.
Echoing the comment above that suggests drinks with your friend and production afterwards. That’s a much better option if you guys can swing it.
The concern is that it’s unprofessional. Everything on a set should be locked. Flabbergasted an executive producer would even consider something like this.

I’d never invite a friend on a shoot. If you go though, and it’s at a studio, say you’re across the lot on a shoot at another soundstage and that you’re on a break.
And what happens when they start asking what you’re shooting, who you’re working with, etc.? 😆
Literally never had someone’s friend just show up on set even if we’re all working in advertising. Occasionally have run into friends at other agencies that happened to be shooting or doing post at the same studio. Echoing that’s unprofessional looking not a networking opportunity.
I had a client bring 2 friends to a shoot then had the agency take all of them out to dinner.
Lmao. The whole production is done on the client’s bill. At best, the agency paid for dinner, but I’m sure that was also billed to the project. The account guy just takes care of all the paperwork on it.
No one “visits a set”. It’s just weird. And if they were that close they would extend their trip to make time to see you.
Can your friend take a break and leave the shoot to grab a quick cup of coffee with you?
Shoot schedules are timed down to the minute. This person’s job is to be 100% committed to the shoot and their client. This is not the time to grab a casual coffee with a friend. Bringing a friend to a shoot is also a big fat no.

Don’t do it. It’s very unprofessional.
On its face that seems sketch but if you sort the legal ins and outs I guess you’re fine.
Wear a red button so they know not to shoot you.

Def don’t do that.
