You can't just have fun with her for the short term? High standards are great for a wife prospect, but if you're in your 20s and there's a solid 9 that's vibin you, are you crazy? Go have fun. I'm not saying you should lead her on, but doesn't mean you have to ONLY date wife material. YOLO

I don't think OP is being an asshole. Those are just his/her standards. He's not saying anything bad about the girls persona. OP just wants a non smoking college graduate and if that makes them an asshole well I hope my kids grow up to be assholes too.
Well, depends. No college degree and no plans to get one ? Deal breaker. Chain smoker and not just bumming smokes at a party? Deal breaker. Can't settle.
Have you considered that maybe it's a deal breaker for her to be with an asshole?

Smoking is a no-go. No college degree...what's her financial situation? Having a college degree doesn't make everybody smarter than non-college degree'ers. If her head and values are straight, doesn't sound and act like an idiot and knows how to support herself, she would still be a go for me.
If it's a deal breaker now then don't do it. Literally did the same thing. We even lived together. After a point I couldn't put up with it anymore. Made me learn no matter how hot she was there are fundamental things I need to have in a person for a relationship that are more important for it to last

I guess my question is what qualities you see within her that attract you at the first place? Also, is she looking to quit smoking and/or getting a degree in the near future?

She has no plans on getting a degree and smokes a few cigarettes a day. She has a decent job at a small corporation making $20 an hour and is the hottest girl I pursued. It's just hard to decide if I continue to pursue her. I had no knowledge of her smoking until she smoked outside the restaurant we got dinner at.
