Take the offer, keep interviewing, if you get the offer from company B then just tell company A you received a more compelling offer from your dream company. Take care of yourself because either of these companies will lay you right off in 6 months and you could be looking again.
If this is for a sales role, I would worry you don’t have the thick skin needed for success, given this post and mildly harsh replies you gave to people attempting to help you.
Best of luck.
Don’t take the job and leave that very bad. Ask nicely let company A know you need a little more time to think, if they want you they will wait. At the same time contact company B and let them know they are your first choice and also mention you already got another offer.
I completely disagree. You are extending favors to these companies that wouldn’t do the same for you. Start with A and give your best foot forward then when company B sends their offer letter, take it to Company A to either leverage more money or justify why you are leaving. “Hi company A Boss, one of the companies I was interviewing with just sent me an offer letter that I am needing to strongly consider because it was my #1 choice.”
This is a recurring dilemma among applicants. You can't have it all so it's always about taking the risk. If you are not brave enough to take the risk for your dream company or dream work, then just accept the offer from company A. But if you really like company B, then ask company A to give you a little more time to think. If they can't, or will not, then it's time that you decide if whether you are willing to take the risk or not.
It’s not about bravery and that’s kind of a cheap shot. Not everybody can afford to take the risk of remaining unemployed while they look for the dream job. I put my things in storage and moved to Mexico for 6 months while I interviewed for the job I wanted. That wasn’t brave of me. It was something I could afford to do.
It’s important to like where you work and really lots of reasons can make a person change their mind and that’s ok do what is best for you
