I’ve changed my titles on resumes and LinkedIn for past jobs to better match what I did. No one cares what you call yourself.
That makes sense and is a good idea! Thanks :)
Titles mean promotions and pay raises. By definition, that is "career growth." If the higher position means less physical/mental work, that's what we all hope for. You give the company "inspiration" rather than "perspiration." No need to feel guilty. You've earned what you have.
Thanks for your insight! Really helpful!
It’s not what you do, it’s who you ARE that matters.
Too true!
Titles are so variable but I do think some changes along a career path are helpful to show growth. I think it also depends of course on the department, on the industry and the company.
Titles matter when you have to further explain what you do. I once had a “creative supervisor” title. It’s how my old agency differentiated “creative directors” who did digital work. I just changed my title to CD on my resume and took out the line of explanation.
Titles don’t mean anything anymore since companies began to blend titles, fluctuate responsibilities and since people began to wear many hats….it doesn’t matter.
