Can anyone share their experience with an ESOP?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

My friend was asked for her prior job check stub it's a way to verify employment when they can't get the employer to do so but it's also a way to see what your prior wages were a little invasive to me but they do whatever works for them if you're interested in the job then you would share the information if not then don't share
That is absolutely illegal and you should redact wages and only show dates of employment and there are a million other ways outside of a check stub to do so. But if this is my aunt Von in TN I’m not at all surprised because TN is not exactly up on the law or being with the times! so wild to see your name if it is this is the first time of me getting on here!
If you’re going for a sales job they may see you as a pushover but they shouldn’t for any other role but it literally never hurts to ask. all they can do is say no or better yet, yes!
You should try and get a sense of a salary range for similar positions in your geographic area. This will help in determining whether negotiating is relevant. If/when you are offered the role, the first thing to do is thank them for the offer and express your excitement for the job. Then, based on your research, ask if they are open to negotiate the starting salary. They may tell you there is no wiggle room. Or, you may be asked what you have in mind. There is just too much ambiguity in your original post to offer any additional guidance. Generally speaking, the higher the level of position, the greater the probability that negotiations are appropriate. If it is a sales position, definitely ask about negotiations.
