I wouldn’t go to Amazon for a 30% TC increase but we’re DINKs and things aren’t too tight
Hmm, yeah... It's really hard to think about giving up my WLB honestly. Congrats on the DINK life 👏🏼

Amazon is exactly what you have heard and fear. But they do pay well and look fantastic on your resume.
Can you do well there for 2 years and then go somewhere else at a higher level?
Or will those 2 years destroy you? Only you can answer that.
True. I dreaded my previous company so much before moving to PwC. I just got a new amazing manager & a solid promotion trajectory. Lots of things to consider
See if you can use that offer to negotiate a raise at your current company.
Well they just gave me a promotion and PwC is on a cohort system so it's basically impossible to get a raise just from another offer. I tried :c
I would move. Once you are in the system you can move around internally. I am seeing some roles pulled back but there are still a lot of things open.
You can always rebound back to PWC for more money.
Thanks, yeah my friend also had an offer for the Seattle office & they kept delaying his start date. He already put in his 2 weeks so poor guy is sweating 🥲
Enjoy the WLB, that’s an invaluable price tag. You can make money other ways through side hustles. Don’t trade in ur low stress / peace of mind for short term $ gains. All of us making good money wish we had better WLB and would prob trade some $ for better WLB
That is awesome, enjoy it while you can. Most would kill for that.
How long does your current cushy project last? If it ends this December, maybe you can start Amazon in January?
Amazon has PIP culture moreso than high layoff risk, so you should be fine for the first year.
Is this your dream exit from consulting? If so, take it. If not, you are decently positioned to wait a bit.
First of all I just want to say your advices/questions are very sound & reflective. You must be a great coach/manager to your team.
Second of all, it is a dream role, but I'm already doing it in my current position (just as a consultant instead of industry). It's a PgM role & it's what my expertise is in. However, it is a level lower than my expected exit would be (PgM II instead of PgM III).
I looked into what you said about sitting on the offer and it's a tad difficult (since the HM & recruiter both wants a placement) roles with similar needs is in high demand & get posted every 4-6 months. I don't think it's going anywhere any time soon.
1 more YOE wouldn't equal any significant cut off for MSFT or Ggl but I will likely be promoted at PwC. That might mean a higher role exit wise. 1 year at Amz would look to be more relevant for sure (to your point). I guess both paths have pros & cons.
